The Nick Amster Workshop, Inc. is a non-profit organization and a subsidiary of the Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Its purpose is to provide vocational employment and training for adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities living in Wayne County. The Workshop currently serves over 300 individuals throughout Wayne County. Services include sheltered employment, community employment, individual job placement services and job coaching. Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing services are also available to the enrollees.

Nick Amster Workshop Volunteers
The Nick Amster Workshop has individuals working or volunteering in the community on a regular basis. Individuals’ responsibilities range from general cleaning to detailed landscaping. Employment in the community is a very rewarding experience as evidenced by very low turnover and great attendance by those employed or volunteering in community settings.

- Food Services
- Packaging
- Janitorial Services
- Mailing and Shipping
- Collating
- Sorting
- Stocking Shelves
- Warehouse Work
